The People's petition to promote fiscal responsibility through the reduction of congressional shenanigans

Created by K.S. on July 10, 2013

The cost of presenting, debating, and voting on a bill in congress carries a estimated $2 million dollar price tag in the House of Representatives alone, and yet there are few, if any, rules in place to prevent members of congress from wasting time and resources proposing and re-proposing meritless bills just to "make a point".

We do not consent to footing the bill for meaningless grandstanding, partisan obstructionism, or outright ridiculousness.

Congress clearly cannot be trusted to practice the restraint they so often demand from their constituents so we would like measures introduced that will limit the number of times a bill (in concept, not name or number) can be voted on in a single session to twice and penalizes congress people financially for violations.
