permanently declare May 22nd as Harvey Milk Day.

Created by G.M. on April 09, 2013

Harvey Milk dedicated his life to promote equality for all. As an American citizen and civil rights activist, it is important that, as a nation, we recognize this man & his contribution to our founding ideals.

Already recognized in California and organized annually by the Harvey Milk Foundation, it is time we take a definitive step forward as a country through the inclusion of one of the formative leaders of the LGBT movement in our catalog of nationally-recognized days and their associated leaders.

May this day serve as a reminder of our civic duties and the need to stand for equality--even in the face of difficulty--as we continue to strive for a "more perfect Union."
