Permanently eliminate all for profit prisons, so that there is no feeling of mistrust in the criminal justice system.

Created by J.S. on September 27, 2014

For profit prisons are a contradiction to freedom that needs to end. They are a costly burden to the state, and they promote punishment instead of reform. This prevents prisoners from becoming productive members of society.

With lower guard pay, higher employee turnaround, and less regulation, they are an increased risk to public safety, and do not provide the promised advantages they claim. They do not save money, they only line the pockets of those exploiting the prison population.

The reports of corruption between judges and for-profit prisons has got to end. It is time to restore a sense of trust and honesty into the justice system, instead of the criminal business system it has been becoming.
