All students in need of education assistance through government backed loan programs must be treated equally regarding interest rates on educational debt. Additionally, all loans must use a "level amortization" schedule as this allows the borrower to pay their debt much faster.
Inequity in loan rates, and payment practices which are designed to generate revenue instead of benefit the borrower, are not appropriate for government. Inequity, regardless of these issues, is a form of discrimination against the very citizens who desire to improve their economic standing through education, which in turn benefits the government and society through increased tax revenue.
This change must be made for borrowers past, present and future. It will promote stronger careers, families, and communities.
