Permit beef ranchers to test their cattle for BSE ("Mad Cow") and advertise that fact for a comparative advantage.

Created by L.L. on May 23, 2013

In 2004 Creekstone Farms had an idea: They would test 100% of their cattle for Bovine Spongiform Encephalopathy (BSE, or "Mad Cow" Disease) using the same test the USDA is using and then advertise that fact to gain a comparative advantage in the marketplace.

Essentially, the plan was to build value into their product via a "100% BSE Tested" guarantee. This is a WONDERFUL IDEA. It's what consumers would expect from a Free Market, evolving and responding to their needs and his sort of innovation should absolutely be encouraged by our Government.

Sadly, the USDA shut down their testing.. Over concerns it would somehow "harm" the "beef Industry"

We think this is a shoddy excuse. We think it's cronyism of the worst sort and we want the Federal Government to reverse this terrible decision
