Most American seniors require eyeglasses or vision correction to see and function well. Medicare currently does not provide eyeglasses or routine vision care except for a single pair of eyeglasses following cataract surgery. Perhaps no single service can offer greater quality of life for our seniors than optimizing their vision, yet many cannot afford needed eyeglasses and vision services due to Medicare's lack of coverage. Medicare should be updated to allow coverage of these much needed services for our seniors.
