Perpetuate the Human Race. As you are fully aware, by 2050, we will not have much of a planet left on which to live.

It is my intention to instigate a multi-national initiative to investigate the possibility of interstellar travel. I believe that if successful, this effort would usher in a new era of peace and understanding amongst the population of our planet. The rate at which we humans continue to exploit Earth's resources with no thought towards posterity will undoubtedly lead to the "death" of our planet. What kind of world will we leave for our children and our children's children? By 2050, there will be no planet left to pass on to them. I propose a much greater focus on sustainable and renewable energy. If the grim future does come to pass, I am certain that our species' only chance at continuity is to populate other planets in our solar system and planets in other systems. To boldly go...
