Ben's Chili Bowl is a DC landmark famous for its involvement in and celebration of African American culture and history - a fact reinforced by the Obama family's multiple visits to the restaurant. Ben's features a mural of prominent black Americans including President Obama and musical legend Chuck Brown. Despite overwhelming evidence of decades-long sexual abuse of women, comedian Bill Cosby's image on the mural looms largest over the busy U Street corridor. When confronted about Cosby's continued presence in the mural and marketing materials throughout the restaurant, the owners of Ben's have defended Cosby and refused to make any changes. The time for change is long past. Bill Cosby is a predator. His image on this mural is an insult to victims of sexual violence and must be removed.
