Former U.S. Marine and Iraq/Afghanistan war veteran Jon Hammar has been wrongfully incarcerated in a filthy Mexican jail since August 13th, 2012. This petition's main goal is to get President Barack Obama DIRECTLY involved in the fight to have former Marine LCpl. Jon Hammar released from jail. Congress and the State Department have been involved in talks with various Mexican officials for a few months now but no discernible progress has been made. It is now time to demand that President Obama become personally involved. Jon Hammar fought for our freedom and is now chained to his bed in a decrepit, drug cartel and violence-infested jail near the US/Mexico border.
