Somehow through the course of our nations history, the concept of standing up to injustice has been thrown to the wayside. The issue at hand is the institutionalized oppression of our nation's citizens. An oppression that is allowed to happen through a war on america cleverly disguised as a war on drugs, a system that makes money based on the number of people incarcerated. It is time for the district attorneys career success too no longer be based on number of prosecutions, but to be based on the visible justice served. It is time that the police force were given federal funding based off the size population they protect, not the number they of arrests they make. It is time that we come together as a common people truly interested in the fulfillment of life and the pursuit of happiness.
