We the people ask the federal government to Change an existing Administration policy:

Petition to abolish the Electoral College.

Created by A.S. on November 09, 2016

In the past 16 years, we have had two presidential elections in which a candidate has lost the popular vote, but won the election. It is appalling that it is possible for someone to not have the support of the majority of the country, but still hold the highest office of our government. No person's vote should count more than another's, and this fact has discouraged many people from voting, as they feel their vote does not matter. The United States of America should adopt the policy of one person, one vote.

If the electoral college cannot completely be eradicated, the United States should adopt a system where electoral votes are awarded proportionately. This would allow election results to be closer to what the American people truly want.
