We petition the President of the United States to not only repeal the daylight savings time change enacted by the Energy Policy Act of 2005, but eliminate daylight savings time from all 50 US states and US territories. The original purpose for daylight savings time is no longer relevant to a modern society, and the literature is mixed as to whether or not daylight savings even reduces energy consumption, but may actually increases consumption due to the widespread use of air conditioners. Additionally, there are some demonstrable adverse health effects (heart attack due to sleep deprivation, for instance) to changing the clock twice a year, as well as biannual confusion and inter TimeZone communication problems resulting from these unnecessary changes.
