Being a U.S. state is no longer in California’s best interests.
1. California subsidizes other states and a bloated federal budget at a loss of billions of dollars. California is forced to raise taxes and borrow against future revenues to make up the difference. Independence means taxpayer money provides vital funding for California infrastructure.
2. California will decide what immigration policies make sense for our diverse and unique population, culture, and economy, and will build an immigration system that is consistent with our values.
3. Independence means our taxes will no longer be subsidizing other states. Then we can fund universal health care programs to ensure everyone has access.
