Petition to allow signatures to be collected after response from White House showing importance to the public.

Created by H.S. on January 02, 2013

Petition to allow the perpetual collection of signatures of a petition on the White House web page. It is clear that once a petition is responded to it is removed from the "popular list" and signatures are no longer allowed. Why not allow petitions to run indefinitely to demonstrate the relative importance to the voters? I see petitions that have several hundred thousand signatures while others are removed from the "popular list" after only 30,000 signatures. Either by accident or design, this leaves the public with a distorted view of what is important to other citizens. Locking out petitions as being is the case now makes the public feel as if their vote is not important. There is no reason to not allow the petitions to continue without an expiration.
