Petition to amend an increase of the Child Tax Credit for caretakers taking care of children with an incarcerated parent

Created by J.B. on July 19, 2015

We the People, wish to endorse & create a petition to increase the Federal Child Tax Credit Allowance for guardians raising children with an incarcerated parent. This amendment will provide an increased allowance up to $2,500 per child, to the age of 18, or 21 if in college, or up to 1 year after the parents release. We the people, believe that this will combat lost wages of the incarcerated parent to help provide for the child, relieving finiancial stress of the caretakers, and prevent the likeliness of intergenerational incarceration. We also believe that this will help prevent the child from becoming interweaved in the foster care system, by allowing the caretaker to make provisions with the extra income for housing, school supplies, and clothing.
