Petition to Ask Clarence Thomas to Step Down

Created by S.R. on February 12, 2014

In the justice's words,"To my knowledge, I was the first black kid in Savannah, Georgia, to go to a white school. Rarely did the issue of race come up.."

Setting aside that this statement contains a tacit assumption that there should be all white schools in a place where 31% of the population is black, the justice himself acknowledged race as a determining factor in who should be educated. Though he personally was the 1 in 3,000,000 exception.

The justice has further made little by way of contribution to the commentary of the court, and previous to his nomination by George H. W. Bush specifically stated that he would not make a good judge.
