Conditions that required the current voting system used in the United States no longer exist, and because of this we have things like constant redistricting within any given state to try and patch a system that really no longer works and is beyond repair. To address this issue and to belay any complains on voter fraud, election fraud etc, a new system must be put into place that truely represents a "government by the people and for the people". To that end I propose that congress enact a constitutional amendment that eliminated the electoral college and all it encompasses, and to eliminate the current first past the post system in favor of a preferential voting system. Doing so would ensure the voice and will of the people will be done and well as simplify the voting system.
