Petition the Democratic Party to move the 2012 Democratic National Convention out of the state of North Carolina.

Created by J.D. on May 09, 2012

Given the passage of the Same-Sex Marriage Amendment to the North Carolina Constitution on May 8, it is inappropriate for the Democratic Party to hold its 2012 Convention in the state. We ask the President, as leader of the Democratic Party, to bring his influence to the issue and to effect a move of the convention to a different state. Passage of the amendment denies civil and human rights to a significant portion of the population, fosters closed-mindedness and bigotry, and goes against what the Democratic Party (and the United States of America) should stand for.
