The U.S. government designated N. Korea as a state sponsor of terrorism in 1988 for reasons including its sponsoring of terrorists, and development and proliferation of WMD. The United States removed N. Korea from the list in 2008 because of its agreement to halt its nuclear program. But very soon, North Korea ignored its commitment and has conducted five nuclear tests, in 2006, 2009, 2013 and twice in 2016.
While the United Nations and international community have been imposed stricter sanctions against Pyongyang, N. Korea conducted its fifth nuclear test on September 9. N. Korea will continue its reckless acts unless the international community exerts stronger pressure on N. Korea. In this sense, we urge to the U.S government to designate North Korea as a sponsor of terrorism.
