Petition to Enact Disability Reform so that 10-40% Retired Disabled Veterans no longer pay for their own disability

Created by K.H. on March 06, 2013

Depending on the severity of disability, veterans receive disablity payments in various degrees of severity rated between 10 to 100% disabled by the Veterans Administration.

Prior to 2003 all veterans who retired after twenty years of service, who had a disabled condition upon retiring from the service, had their disability payment deducted from their retirement pay.

In 2003 Congress enacted a law which paid the disability for retired veterans in the 50-100% disabled category.

400,000 plus retired disabled veterans who are 10-40% disabled are still required to pay for their own disability, by having their disability payment deducted from their military retirment pay, and then paid to them by the Veterans Administration as their disability payment.

End the Veterans Disability Tax.
