The United States embargo against Cuba should come to an end. While the nation of Cuba is far from perfect in terms of human rights and democracy the embargo is counter productive to both parties and is out of touch with the post Cold War world. The embargo prevents the people of Cuba from attaining much needed supplies such as soap and medical supplies on the sort of scale that they require. In addition, the embargo only increases anti-American sentiment within the country which creates a sort of self fulfilling prophecy in which the very things the embargo hope to elliminate are perpetuated. Domestically, the embargo hampers U.S. businesses by eliminating an entire market. A market that would bring additional billions into the U.S. economy.
