Petition to File Federal Charges Against the Officers Who Beat Kelly Thomas to Death

Created by T.S. on April 16, 2014

Kelly Thomas, a 37-year-old mentally disabled homeless man (his doctors say he had the mind of an 11 year old), was beaten to death in Fullerton, California on July 5, 2011, by police officers who felt they were above the law.

Kelly was tasered, beaten with batons, punched and kneed repeatedly, and was even hit in the face with the end of a Taser.

When the paramedics arrived on the scene, they treated the officers' minor injuries before tending to Kelly who laid in a pool of his own blood.

Two of the officers involved, Manuel Ramos and Jay Cicinelli, were tried and found not guilty of any criminal charges on January 13, 2014. The others were never put on trial.
