Petition to Grant the State of Connecticut the Authority to Hold a Referendum to Peacefully Withdraw from the Union

The election of Donald J. Trump to the office of President of the United States has already tarnished the reputation of America overseas. The People of Connecticut voted against putting this dangerous man in the White House, and should not be subject to the impending acts of his administration if they so choose. This petition asks President Obama, while he still holds this great office, to request that Congress allow the State of Connecticut to hold a binding referendum that, if passed, would allow the State of Connecticut to begin preparations to peacefully withdraw from the Union and secede from the United States. The people of Connecticut deserve the opportunity to choose their own fate, rather than be taken down with those who seek to oppose the interests of the State of Connecticut.
