A petition to keep the PSLF program as created and not make the changes proposed in the 2015 presidential budget

The proposed changes to the PSLF program will reduce the amount of loan forgiveness to $57,500 after 10 years of payments. This change will adversely affect the ability of those public servants and non-profit employees to remain in public sector jobs. This proposed change also drastically restricts the recruitment incentive of highly educated and specialized personnel, such as doctors, nurses, engineers, social workers, etc., from going into public service. With an ever increasing aging population, veterans care, technology needs and research, the public and non-profit sectors need well qualified employees and a strategy to retain good talent. The PSLF in its' current form goes a long way in accomplishing a solid recruitment and retention strategy.
