We the people ask the federal government to Call on Congress to act on an issue:

Petition to kill the electoral college and instate popular vote for Presidential Elections.

Created by O.W. on November 09, 2016

Many presidents who have been elected, may have lost on the popular vote, but won through the electoral college. This archaic system was implemented in 1787. Back in 1787 the population of the United States was 3,929,214 (that is now a little bit more than the population of Utah). There is now 318,900,000 Americans. Laws have changed, so has the population. So why does it make any sense to keep the electoral college? It as created for a smaller population. Now there is a population literally 100x bigger than when the electoral college was created. It is time for change in the way that presidents are elected.
