When video game makers decide that the game is no longer viable to support and close down the servers for the game to play aka DRM. The company should produce a patch that will remove the DRM or allow users or other companies to create servers so the game can still be played.
The company does not need to continue to produce patches for the game but allow users to continue enjoying the product they have purchase long after the company stops supporting the game.
No user/player should be forced or required to give up playing a game because the creator has stopped or refuses to support a game that requires a online connection to play(DRM).
Once a program is over 10 years old and the manufacture no longer supports the program it should go in to abandonware and users can support the program.
