We the people ask the federal government to Propose a new Administration policy:

Petition to mandate that ISPs compete with eachother at a local level.

Created by A.W. on December 06, 2016

In the 21st century the internet is essential to find a job, keep said job, getting access to up-to-date information, and most importantly a strong economy m. The problem is that ISPs most of the time either are a monopoly locally or compete with 1 other company that act as a duopoly making you choose between 2 companies who charge you alot for what you are getting. Any economist knows that competition is in the consumers best interest in almost any case, because without competition, why bother to innovate? Which is why I propose that at a reasonable price, ISPs must lease bandwidth to new competitors in the market like most other countries mandate. This is why, according to the NY times, a person in DC pays more than twice as much than a person in London for the same speeds.
