This petition requests the Federal Government to review and implement non intrusive smart gun technology to reduce the accidental misuse of firearms by children or teens. This petition does NOT request the review or use of active or passive embedded RFID chips into registered users. We do NOT request a Federal database of smart gun use. Keyed passive RFID key fobs (or similar technology) should be controlled and maintained by registered gun owners. Many new cars readily use this technology, and the technology is commercially available. We petition a Federal study to evaluate the economic, commercial, legal, and viable use of smart gun technology to issue a federal mandate to require manufacturers to key all new weapons so to reduce the accidental misuse of firearms by children.
