Kashmir is still waiting for India to give them its right of self-determination as pledged by United Nations. However, Kashmiris are facing war crimes by Indian army, human rights violations & atrocities. Due to recent crackdown of Indian army, thousands of civilians were injured & many lost their eye sight from rubber pellets. US Congress should address concerns over human rights violations in Kashmir by Indian army as expressed already by HRW & Amnesty International. US Congress should also pursue a peaceful dialogue with India to deliver a fair plebiscite in light of UN resolution. Kashmir must be resolved peacefully to prevent a nuclear war in the region at the earliest possible. US Congress must use its political influence to achieve a transparent referendum in Kashmir.
