The petition to not ban guns but enforce laws already on the books and focus on the Mental Health issues in this country

This petition is to bring the true focus to Mental Health issues in this country instead of the knee jerk reaction to ban guns. Banning guns will not stop a deteimed attacker from attacking innocent, unarmed citizens. If we start to deal with the neglected Mental Health issues you can start to protect the citizens. Secondly places like schools, malls, churches and mass transit stations are soft targets. This is why they are chosen. Soft targets are one in which the attacker can easily wound, injur or kill many before being confronted by resistance. If we follow Utah's lead - volunteers can be trained and issued ccw's. this hardens the targets. Additionally these volunteers would need to go thru the same background checks and psych exams as peace officers do.
