Petition to only allow police officers on patrol to carry batons and pepper spray.

In order to prevent further unjust and/or accidental killings, our officers need no longer carry firearms while on patrol. Our officers still have a right to protect themselves however, and should have shotguns kept on a gun rack in their cruisers. In the event that an officer needs to call for backup, backup should still be able to respond with the full force they do now. There does not need to be any chance in this aspect or any other aspect, such as with riot control. Only officers on patrol should no longer carry a firearm.
