Petition to prevent the proposed changes to the Marine Corps uniform, including the change in the White Barracks Cover.

Created by J.H. on October 24, 2013

According to a recent news report, the White House is considering changing the Marine Corps uniform. Specifically, the White Barracks cover, worn by the Marine Corps with their Blue Dress uniform. This petition hopes to prevent the change.

The Marine Corps uniform carries with it the proud legacy of the Men and Women who served the Marine Corps in the past. Changing any aspect of the uniform is a deviation from tradition and such a deviation in abhorrent to the Marine Corps. The barracks cover design can be traced back to the campaigns of Napoleon. Furthermore, aspects of the cover unique to the Marine Corps, such as the Quatrefoil, can be traced back to the very origins of the Marine Corps and our tradition for Naval Service. This change is unmerited and unwanted.
