The 'We the People' petition process is a valuable resource for citizens.
However, the White House has raised the number of required signatories from 150 to 100,000 in reaction to the overwhelming number of petitions, and the frequency of non-critical petitions.
This results in an unbalanced process that favors popular petitions, over unpopular, yet possibly higher priority or more critical petitions.
There are solutions available that can balance the competing factors.
Experience within industries, such as Information Technology, can help the White House establish a petition process that is more balanced.
The process should support three principles:
1-5000 signatories (low bar)
2-Severity (impact on petitioner's life)
3-Priority (urgency - impact over time)
