Terrorism is a dire threat that our country faces on a daily basis. Any celebration or advocating of terrorist actions taken against the United States or its citizens represents a threat to the livelihood of the American people. The 1st amendment was meant to protect freedom of speech insofar as it pertains to speech that is not hateful or could lead to violence inflicted upon the American people. This petition calls for a ban on speech that promotes or celebrates violence taken against American citizens. Such speech has no place in our democratic republic.
