Denying an adult American citizen the right to buy a beer is an overbearing gross violation of his or her civil liberty. In America, you become a full citizen at the age of 18. You can be drafted into the military, get married, and buy a house – but having a beer is a crime.
Is this weird exception the norm around the world? Absolutely not. The United States is literally the only developed nation with a drinking age of 21.
While the modern world has left us behind, America joins a list of socially repressive nations, like Pakistan, Egypt, and Indonesia, who still prohibit 18 year olds from drinking alcohol.
