A petition to tie Congressional salary, benefits, and paid time off to the national average

Created by C.H. on January 30, 2014

Congressional pay, benefits, and vacation time should be tied to the national average. For example, the average wage in 2012 was $44,321.67. Paid vacation would be ten days, and members of Congress would get median-level health coverage. Congressional compensation would rise or fall with the national average on a yearly basis.

Enacting this reform would close some of the gap between Congress and the average worker, and might provide them with some incentive to do more to help working Americans.
