The Convention on Cluster Munitions is an international treaty signed by 108 states on the 30th of May 2008. It prohibits the 'use, production, stockpiling and transfer of cluster munitions' as ratified by a majority of the world's states. However, the US (not a signatory) and the UK (a signatory) have continued to produce and sell cluster munitions to states engaging in unilateral warfare. An example is Saudi Arabia's bombing of Yemen, which has, according to the UN, killed 5,878 civilians and wounded 27,867 since March 2015. Saudi Arabia has blatantly used cluster bombs on civilian and MSF targets throughout the campaign. Despite this, last month Congress voted to continue to sell cluster munitions to the Saudis. As such, we urge Congress to re-vote on this issue and stop the sale ASAP.
