On May 25, 1961, Pres. Kennedy delivered his proposal to a joint session of Congress to put a man on the Moon and return him safely to Earth before the end of the decade. This occurred at a time when America could not get a man in orbit (much like today). Within 8 years we completed the nearly impossible task of landing and walking on the moon on July 20, 1969.
We request Congress recognize this technical accomplishment and honor the approximately 400,000 Americans and over 20,000 industrial firms and universities involved in America’s Manned Lunar Space Program by setting aside funding and authorization for the Apollo11plus50.com project, which will commemorate the 50th anniversary of America’s first steps on the moon via a series of lunar missions.
