Petitioning President Obama to pass a transgender equality law due to the North Carolina's HB2 law. Federal law should define sex as both transgender and biological sex in order to prohibit discrimination. The Civil Rights Act of 1964 prohibits employment discrimination against people based on sex, and Title IX prohibits discrimination based on sex in educational settings. The North Carolina HB2 law defines people by their biological sex ostracizing those that define themselves as transgender. President Obama needs to pass federal legislation to create equality for all, including transgender people.
