Petitioning Victoria Soto to be awarded the Congressional Medal of Honor for her heroic actions in Newtown, CT

Created by L.R. on December 15, 2012

Victoria Soto, 27, died a hero at the school shootings in Newtown, CT. She hid her first graders in the cabinets and closets after hearing the gunfire. When the shooter came to her classroom, she told him that her students were in the gym. He then gunned her down and moved on. She saved the lives of all of her students. She deserves to be remembered for her bravery.

Although we understand that the Congressional Medal of Honor is traditionally reserved for members of the military, we petition the President to make an exception for her case since very few military members get the honor of saving the lives of innocent children in such a direct way.
