phase out all subsidies for corn and stop requiring ethanol in gasoline.

Created by M.E. on January 29, 2013

The government is wasting billions of dollars every year subsidizing corn and in doing so is subsidizing the "obesity epidemic." Our government should not be subsidizing corn syrup for sodas, "juice" drinks, and candy; should not be subsidizing corn oil for french fries and fried chicken; should not be subsidizing corn to be force-fed to cows that are supposed to graze on grass. The cause of widespread obesity, type 2 diabetes, etc. is right in front of us! We can save billions directly by phasing out these subsidies and indirectly from decreased expenditures on healthcare.

Furthermore, ethanol is not environmentally friendly. It takes more energy from fossil fuel to move and process the corn into ethanol than the energy the ethanol produces. End the ethanol requirements for gasoline.
