Phase out Social Security Tax and replace with optional investment opportunities.

Created by J.G. on September 28, 2011

Based on simple investment principles, the amount an average working class person puts into social security in their lifetime they should be able to retire about 5 times over. However when they retire the social security will not cover half of what they need to retire comfortably. If the same person invested half that money, the government stole from them, they would be able to retire early and comfortably.
We can only speculate as to where the rest of this money is going, but it is definately not going to the people paying into the system.
U.S. citizens should have to right to take risks and deal with the consequences. If they choose not to save for retirement, or not to cary disability insurance then that is their choice, and everyone else should not have to pay for their bad choices.
