Carbon-based energy causes pollution, disease and climate change. Wind, solar and geothermal use no fuel, create permanent jobs and are much cheaper.
Subsidies for coal and oil companies hold energy prices artificially lower, while causing damage to the health and welfare of the people. Dirty energy should be taxed like other negative externalities. Solar, wind, and geothermal use FREE energy, have minimal health impacts, and reduce dependence on our enemies' resources. Sustainable energy systems are definitely positive externalities, which should be subsidized, just like in China.
As coal and oil run out they get more expensive and as solar, wind and geothermal become more widely used they become cheaper. Isn't it about time to start doing the Right Thing? Support clean cheap energy!
