The 2nd amendment is part of the Bill of Rights of our U.S. Constitution. It is a constitutional right that we may own and carry firearms. Because this is a constitutional right, it should never come as a surprise to anyone, including law enforcement, that a subject is armed. With that in mind, of course the safety of the officer should be considered. Therefor, we propose that a federal law be put into place requiring all traffic stops and interactions with police and citizens begin with this question:
"Sir or Ma'am, do you have a firearm?"
This should come before "license and registration", and we should have universal protocol across all 50 states addressing specific instructions to disarm the citizen before continuing with the traffic stop or interaction.
