Pipe excess water from the flood-prone Midwest to drought-prone California instead of piping oil from Canada to Texas.

Created by D.W. on February 07, 2014

Let's build pipelines to move flood waters from the Midwest to drought-stricken areas like Oklahoma and California. This addresses two serious and costly problems and could provide well-paid jobs for years to come. This is a better project than building pipelines to move oil from Canada to Texas because it helps millions of individuals: homes, businesses and farmers, instead of a few already very profitable oil companies. We already produce more oil than we consume, so let's put our resources into job creation that can alleviate serious and widespread problems. Best of all, this project could be bipartisan, aiding congressional districts of all stripes with new jobs and better flood or drought relief. This is the kind of Big Idea project the public could support.
