One major problem that the world faces today is piracy off the coast of Africa. Piracy is an act of crime or criminal violence committed at sea by another vessel. This has posed a major threat to international shipping. This problem has impeded the delivery of shipments and increased shipping expenses. It is estimated that international shipping costs $6.6 to $6.9 billion a year.
With help from other countries such as Russia and India joining the battle against piracy much has improved. However, if we let our guard down now piracy may once again become what it used to be.
