Place an armed guard in each school, funded by a property tax on each gun owned and an excise tax on gun & ammo purchase

Created by J.B. on December 22, 2012

On December 14, 2012, 20 precious 6 & 7 year olds were killed by a shooter using a semi-automatic assault rifle with a large capacity ammo clip. Six of their teachers were also gunned down. The NRA has admitted that we must do more to protect our children, and has proposed putting armed guards in every school. This would cost about $20 billion. It would be funded by an annual property tax for each gun owned of about $175/gun. Additional ancillary expenses would be covered by a point-of-purchase excise tax on guns and ammo. This proposal would assure that the cost of protecting our children from gun violence in our schools is borne by the owners of guns. Those not wanting to pay this tax could divest themselves of their guns. The government could buy back these weapons with the taxes.
