This petition urges congress to immediately dispatch National Guard members to oversee the funerals of the Connecticut victims, ensuring no interference from the Westboro Baptist Church or other hate-based organizations. As part of a long-term solution, it also suggests that laws are passed to universally ban protests at funerals. This is a viewpoint-neutral, content-based restriction on the freedom of speech, that is neither too broad, nor too vague. Respect for the dead is a universal, age-old idea.
