Helping the FBI unlock a single iPhone belonging to terrorists does not jeopardize any citizens' privacy. The software tool never leaves Apple's premises, and someone who can hack Apple and gain access to this tool will also have access to Apple's much more valuable signing keys which will allow hackers to break all Apple security measures.
Apple are exploiting consumer fears of privacy to paint our nation's protectors as the enemy while protecting actual mass murderers for their own profit.
