1. This is a dangerous type of mining that always pollutes water. There are thousands of reports by mining corporations that document problems trying to contain uranium-laden water at mine sites, according to the Nuclear Regulatory Commission’s Web site. There are sites operating over major US aquifers.
2. Most uranium companies are from other countries. They are being allowed to take our uranium and ship it to foreign governments without any apparent oversight.
3. Uranium mining companies have a history of failing to clean up mining sites when they leave. This then has to be done on the taxpayers' dollars to protect public health.
It pollutes our water. It profits other countries unknown strategically and economically. It costs us money we do not have. Why are we allowing this?
